1. General information
This subject is an integrative training activity, the objective of which is to help students complement and apply the knowledge acquired in their previous academic training, by means of the preparation and presentation of a degree final project (DFP) which aims to achieve the following objectives:
a) Contribute to the integral training of students by complementing their theoretical and practical learning.
b) Facilitate the knowledge of the work methodology adequate to the professional reality in which the students will have to operate, contrasting and applying the knowledge acquired
c) Favour the development of technical, methodological, personal and participatory skills.
d) Obtain an experience that facilitates insertion in the labour market and improves their future employability.
e) Promote the values of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship
These approaches and objectives are aligned with Goal 4 (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/).
2. Learning results
Upon completion of this subject, the student will be able to:
Carry out, under their responsibility, and under the direction of one or more teachers, a degree final project, consisting of the completion of an academic, laboratory or field work, of such complexity and scope that it allows to prove that they has acquired the competences of the degree and that their working capacity is at the level required of a professional capable of integrating into the labour market in the food industry
3. Syllabus
The student will develop their DFP in a specific line (therefore, a specific program is not detailed) in one of the following modalities:
a. Specific academic works, such as bibliographic reviews.
b. Specific work performed in laboratory, field, Veterinary Hospital, Pilot Plant or other facilities that allow the student to develop their activities or acquire their competences.
c. Specific work carried out as a result of internships in companies or institutions, or within the framework of the Practicum subjects of the degrees of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
d. Equivalent work carried out as a result of a stay in another university, through an agreement or mobility program.
4. Academic activities
The subject has been assigned 6 ECTS in the syllabus, which means that the student will have to dedicate 150 hours to pass it which will be distributed among the following concepts:
-Student meetings with the subject coordinator
-Tutorials of each student with their director(s). The student must agree with the Director(s) of the DFP the training activities, depending on the proposed topic and modality chosen.
-Personal work of the student
-Presentation and defence of the work before the board of examiners. The work done must be presented in a report and defended publicly before a board of examiners in two of the four defence periods provided for this purpose.
In the case that the DFP to be performed involves research with animals, data or their biological samples, it must have been previously reviewed by the Ethical Advisory Committee for Animal Experimentation of the University of Zaragoza. In the event that the DFP to be carried out involves research with people, personal data or human biological samples , it must be previously reviewed by a Research Ethics Committee, which in Aragon is the CEICA. 5. Assessment system
The student must develop a report or written work according to the established requirements and must make a defence of it, relying on the elements they deems appropriate, before a board of examiners constituted according to the rules and requirements established by the University of Zaragoza and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
Requirements for the written report: maximum length of 35 pages (excluding cover page, table of contents and annexes), Calibri 11 font, 1.5 spacing, justified alignment and margins in normal format,
The student's written report must include the following aspects:
1. Cover: In the established format. It will include the title of the DFP in Spanish and English, name of the student and the director(s) 2. Index
3. Abstract: in Spanish and English (maximum 300 words).
4. Introduction (will include bibliographic review)
5. Justification and Objectives
6. Methodology
7. Results and discussion*
8. Conclusions (in Spanish and English)
9. Personal appraisal. Identification of the contributions that, in terms of learning, have resulted from the development of this subject
10. Bibliography. Citations and references will be formatted in Harvard BUZ style

* In those works of literature review modality, the results are the review itself.
Defence: presentation of the DFP for a maximum of 15 minutes, and the subsequent discussion period with the board (maximum of 15 minutes)
The report will account for 45% of the overall grade; the defence of the work, taking into account both the presentation and the discussion with the board of examiners. 35% and finally the Director's report 20% of the final grade. A minimum grade of 5 is required to pass this test.
Reasons for exclusion. Failure to comply with one or more of the following criteria will result in the Report not being eligible for deposit:
- Deposit of the Report or Proposal after the deadline established by the Centre
- Title of the Report different from the one indicated in the DFP proposal
- Length greater that the established
- Summary and conclusions are not in Spanish and English
The following will be valued: correctness in the use of the Spanish and English language; clarity, conciseness and order; ability to synthesise; innovative character; creativity; autonomous learning capacity; capacity for analysis, comprehension and interpretation of the bibliography, the material, methods, and the results obtained; the formal aspects related to the presentation of the data, the report, presentation and defence.
